Finally a Greek restaurant that is gluten-free with superlative ambiance, extensive wine list, and wait a minute .... did I say gluten-free? To fellow Celicas if you are looking for a wonderful dining experience, come to Venus. They have an extensive gluten-free menu and a staff that is very knowledgeable. If you have any questions or concerns, ask for Costa, one of the owners. He is always around and no matter how busy the restaurant gets he will work with the kitchen to ensure that your meal is gluten free. I would highly recommend all the Cypriot dishes they are absolutely delicious! This so much better than the cookie-cutter cuisine presented by the other restaurants in Greek town folks, you will keep coming back - we plan to. It is heartening to see restaurants go the extra mile to accomodate people with food allergies, we have come a long way.

I came to Venus for my birthday and had fabulous experience! There were 9 in my party and from the minute we walked in we were treated with attentiveness and warmth. This is a family-owned business and the owners were there coming over to make sure that we were happy and taken care of. The menu is massive and had something for every appetite with generous portions and fair prices. In Greektown, where restaurants are a dime a dozen, Venus stands out as a true gem.

I went to Venus with some hesitation after reading the mixed reviews here. I suspect that the owners have heard the feedback from anything negative because I have nothing but praise for this place. I work near Greektown and eat there often. This was the best Greek restaurant in Chicago. I had avoided it because of the mixed reviews, and this was a mistake. I anticipate becoming a regular. As soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable. The manager warmly greeted me, and we conversed as if we were old friends. My server, Iakovos, had strong recommendations and made my experience delightful. He was right on the money with the Cypriot classic halloumi, and the rest of my food comforted my Greek roots. But my American guests were equally impressed. The food, atmosphere, service, and value offered us an amazing experience. With nearby competition weaker and a bit stale, Venus is a winner!

OUTSTANDING!! this place is quite the find! really cool atmostphere, attentive and informative
wait staff, excellent food and live music all contributed to a perfect night out. the calamari
was delicious. the highlight was the kleftiko, lamb baked for six hours. melted in my mouth!
i can't wait to go back and i am telling everyone i know that enjoys a great night out to check
out venus.

So much better than Greek food, and the other Greek restaurants. The food here is fresh, cooked to order, and yes it takes 30 mintues to get your food, so what? Why is everyone complaining about the wait? Our dinner was a wonderful 3 hour experience. I actually loved the octopus, which I normally would not like. The service and decor are excellent, and the food was outstanding. We were served a round of drinks on the house at the end of our delicious meal. Can't wait to return.
